thank you donny/jay/old timer for kind words ,,,i made a smart descision early to quit the drug scene,i have a load of respect and envy for anyone who could use and have great lines and build and be lucky to come out of it ok,but those are few too mention,most get fat/skinny/quit lifting and lose 'why they picked up a barbell/dumbell in the 1st place'...so on my birthday other than detail my car i did what any other hot blooded american male would do i did 'legs' :-X,,,, :D..

quads warm up extensions 195x12,205 x12,220x12,230x12,250x12
leg press 5 platesx12,6x10,7x8,7x8
squat feet close 225x12,275x10,315x10
lunges to the steps 45 each hand up/down/up/down flight 2x

hams sldl barbell 135x12,185x10,235x10
lying leg curl 155 2x10
seat leg curl 180x10/195x10

calves seated calf raise 3 plates x20,3.5 plates x15 mixed in some half reps bottom part to midway squeeze and top part to like doing 21's for bi's,set 3 was same with 10ls extra,set 4 was just 2 plates for 20 but did true 21's 5 full,5 from top portion,5 from bottom ,then 5 full to finish,,
standing calf raise 200 on stack sets 3x12 hard pump by now ;D,,,,

went home 2 scoops choc whey/banana/blueberries/ice/water/peanut butter teaspoon mix well  :),,,delicious so to speak..

This has nothing to do with anything on this board but I went to my Toyota dealer for routine maintenance. Basically an oil change and tire rotation. They do some courtesy stuff like fill your windshield wiper fluid container. The guy at the counter asks my name. He doesn't have a clue who I am but I remember him.  He punches my name in the computer then he starts talking about my girl in college. The only reason he knew that was because of a note he put into the computer. I guess it's good public relations to pretend you know people.  I get my car back looking at the paper work in the parking lot and it says something like 60 point service inspection. One checked box says filled windshield fluid. So I look in it and it's close to empty. Then I look at my tires knowing how one has a very slight mark on it and guess what? No rotation. The oil was changed though but I wonder if they bothered to change the filter?  I drove home  20 miles away and then notice the oil maintenance light wasn't turned off.

Keeping it bodybuilding related I was so pissed off I had a good leg workout.

i work as an advisor for volvo dealer and i would have been infuriated and drove back to have light shutoff and check fluids again!!!did they have upsell or future repairs noted.i have customers come back that day or day after and i have to eat crow,even if tech screwed up,,,

Lesson....don't trust the dealership. I have used the same mechanic for over 20 years. He's someone I trust and he's qualified to do warranty work. My vehicle is long ago out of warranty and still runs great, thanks to his attention to detail.

Pretty good, a two day birthday celebration. Personally, I don't gamble. This might be the only vice I escaped....LOL!

Just got home from my monthly board meeting and it is nearly dinnertime. Each month when I have this meeting, I think I am going to make it to the gym afterwards, but I never have yet. Guess I should just accept that it is a day lost. That's okay though, I'll hit quads tomorrow. My only meeting is a breakfast meeting at 10:00 a.m. and that won't interfere with gym time.

no you didn't miss something,,,legs and back are my prime strenght bodyparts i push bigger weights there,chest for me genetically is a very good 'vanity'bodypart i do a lot of volume and pumping ,,i was never a get under bench type and push and rattle the 45's to know end,i got over that quick my body just didn't have tendon strenght and leverage for it,i'm jealous of thos guys 3 plates and more on bench cool to see,,settled for the 'look'more so,,,on the machines i push some decents weight or move the stack,,,

Ab crunches on floor superset with leg raises
30 min run ...

yeah,,,i see what he was asking ,,cannot be a beast on every movement.still in flat position have some resistance from l/s shoulder still sticks/gets tired out at certain/weight /reps.i'm healed 90/95 pct still trying to get 80/90's back better than 25/40's I was doing for wks at the worst point,,i kmow on a viual standpoint I look strong,but everyone has peaks,limitations,set point max strength limit .not meltdown nor excuse just facts,and I train especially after injury a bit more cautious and not push joints anymore,,

I understand that, just a huge difference from squatting 4 plates for reps and benching 75# db's.
I think you go for the health look anyway though, right?

currently 75's ,prior to getting hurt 90's its not that much difference in the grand scheme.like I said my legs and back have more I guess explosive nature for strength,i like to be ripped or 'health'look lol,,,I DO A LOT OF VOLUME WORK SO BEING STRONGEST IN GYM TO SOME EXTENT ...isn't my only goal.

Worked quads today.

Weight 208

Nautilus leg extensions 6X20-6 @ 126-166
Leg press 6X25-8 @ 200-700
Machine hack squats 3X12-8 @ machine weight to 180
kickback lunges 3X10 ea. side @ 90-250 (still need to take a photo of this machine).

Did not work calve because, I'll work them on Thursday with hams.

Hot and humid today. Cloudy hazy most of the day with temps up around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It is so humid it actually sprinkled a little today. Thunderstorms expected tonight. -Threat of fire because of the lightning. All in all, crap weather. At least the gym is air-conditioned.

Quality post as usual, particularly the part about the importance of tendon strength and leverage. Moving big weights doesn't always equate to having a great physique. Being strong doesn't hurt but it isn't necessarily everything when it comes to BB.
Exactly ! if just mindlessly pushing mammoth weights was all that was needed we would all be Monsters. You can make 75s very heavy if you know what you are doing. Better to look in shape than a fat bloated mess.
