-Saw my orthopedist today. Guess I am doing better then expected. It can take a year for the new formed cartilage to fully develop. The general weakness in my right leg is normal. The quad starts atrophying immediately following surgery. Doing the prescribed exercises helps keep the quad muscle viable, but one still loses strength apparently. Although I can't see it, the doctor says I still have some swelling in the joint.....not that joint....LOL!
Having sciatica complicates my recovery some, since it is hard to tell what is affected by this and what is a result of the knee surgery. I will just have to learn to live with the sciatica because no way do I intend to have my surgery on my spine.
Next Monday, I begin 8 weeks of physical therapy to help with my recovery. Lindsey, the physical therapist I've used in the past for back problems is great. If anyone will get me back in shape, it will be Lindsey. We'll be working on mobility/flexibility and strength along with the therapeutic advantages of ultrasound and massage.
I imagined I'd be back at it (working out) full-bore by now. Perhaps I was overreaching.
