I LOVED THAT MACHINE...WE DO NOT HAVE ONE AT MY GYM...

Fortunately, the gym where I've worked out for that last 30+ years has a huge array of machines, including Nautilus, Hammer Strength, and others. There is also a lot of free weights. the dumbbell rack is probably 60 feet long and goes from 5 pound weights up to.....well, I don't really know since I haven't lifted more than the 75 lb. dumbbells which are about two thirds the way up the rack. There is no way to get bored with all this variety.

Perhaps the gym owner believes Nautilus equipment means the gym isn't as hardcore.

Have you tried pullovers on the Nautilus? The movement is the same as it would be if you were lying on a flat bench except you are seated. This of course means that gravity isn't much of a factor, but it is really easy to maintain good from with a fair amount of resistance. What's your feeling about this?

Nautilus pullover is one of the most fantastic designs Jones ever made. It can't be compared to a pullover on a flat bench. A pullover on a flat bench is less than a half a rep on a Nautilus pullover.

Hope your wife gets well soon. I hope doctors can figure out the best way to address the problem.

I guess I am lucky to have this gym to work out at. I have been a member for over 30 years. The annual dues are $225. New members pay much more. The only other expense is when I buy tanning time. This is $80 for 20 tans. I mainly use it in the winter to ward off the blahs and to insure I don't get too yellow looking. Olive skin, like mine looks healthier when it has a little bit of color. I could move to the South of France, but that would be more expensive than using the tanning bed.... ;D

No gym today.

We took my wife to the emergency last night because her blood sugar was at 40 and she was showing signs of going into a diabetic coma. She's was admitted to the hospital. She had to stay in emergency until they had a room ready which wasn't until 4:00 a.m. At least she got a little sleep last night. I can't say the same for our daughter and I.

The doctors aren't sure what is going on yet. After giving her a lot of carbs and orange juice her blood sugars are still low. She got a injection of dextrose to bring it up.  It is possible her pancreas isn't working right. When I talked to her this morning, she did sound more with it, so her blood sugar must be a little better. Once they figure out what's wrong and get her stabilized, we'll talk about her coming back home. Hospitals are just not a fun place to be.

Prime I feel bad for all involved. The cliche' get well soon doesn't seem adequate. I'll say a prayer and hope the doctors find a solution.

I'm retired and I was looking for a job for extra income. I thought I had a job at a school. They called and said the school board approved hiring me. They told me to come in today for paper work. When I arrived a guy who pushed for me said the superintend didn't want to hire me because he wanted his own guy. Now they said the minutes from the the school board meeting where they approved hiring me is missing. I hate NJ politics.

I came home and took off my suit from that missed opportunity to train legs.

Leg press 2 x 12
Dumbbell squats 2 x 12 (these are brutally hard. Back straight and sink your butt all the way down.)
leg extensions 2 x 20
standing leg curls 2 x 15

side bend with one dumbbell 1 x 15
situp on an incline 1 x 27
hanging leg raises 1 x max
weighted pulley crunches 1 x 30
weighted floor crunches 1 x 50

standing calf raise 2 x 15
seated calf raise 2 x 15

neck work

I then did some stretches for shoulders/pec, and legs.

Going to Harrah's casino tonight. Going to drink some cocktails and do some dancing. They always have a decent band playing at their club Eden.  Always have a good time but it goes by so quick and the cotton mouth hang over in the morning stinks. We do this about once a month and stay at a casino.

Rough day after the Casinos. Had a little to much fun.  Started off with Grand Marnier.  It's orange flavored Cognac in case you didn't know. Then the beer fest began. Watched the wife gambled and ended on the dance floor. The room in the casino was fantastic. Two big screen televisions. A living room and a bedroom. At check in the guy just gave us the suite for the same price. Maybe they ran out of regular rooms and had to give us the nice room.

Today feeling a little exhausted was delts and arms.

Dumbbell shoulder press 2 x 8 (made sure I went all the way down. No half reps)
dumbbell delt lateral raise 2 x 10
one arm pulley lateral raise 1 x 10
rear delt dumbbell lateral raise 2 x 10

Wanted to do something for the front delt. Tried single arm pulley raises for one set and they felt awkward. Then switched to one set of alternate dumbbell front raises. After doing both I think I felt the pulley more.

Shoulder shrug 2 x10

ez curl 2 x 10
straight bar pulley curl 2 x 10
concentration dumbbell curl 2x 12

conventional tricep pulley push downs 2 x 10
skull crushers with ez bar 2 x 8 ( I try to be strict having hurt my elbow region more than once with these)
reverse grip D handle one arm pulley tricep extensions 2 x 12

forearm curls 2 x 20
reverse forearm extensions 2 x 15
ivanko gripper 2 x20

weighted crunches 1 x 55
pulley crunches 2 x 30

I brought my wife home today. She is doing better. Her blood sugar levels have stabilized. She's really glad to be home. Hospitals stays are so boring.

Thanks guys for your positive thoughts. Surely, all that good energy helps.
