I have a perfect analogy to demonstrate that a carb is just a carb.
When you exercise, and use cables or machines, your body doesn't realize its using a cable or machine. Tension is tension, whether you use cable/machine or free weight. Your body is not going to "say" to itself, "Oh, I am not going to grow because tension is coming from a cable, and not a barbell."
Similarly, your body is not going to differentiate from where the carb or fat is coming from. Your body is not going to secretly make you get fatter because the carb or fat came from a piece of cake, and not a chicken breast.
