Amazing. That is the largest contract in baseball history. I wouldn't be surprised if over the span of those 10 years he crosses over the $1 Billion mark by way of separate endorsements and sponsorship deals.
I believe it is well deserved. He is Major League Baseball's first two-way player since Babe Ruth. The man is a phenom and a complete gentleman that shows the highest level of sportsmanship every single time he steps foot on the baseball field. He was the American League MVP and has held this title for 2 straight years.
Had it not been for his injury, he would have easily been the homerun leader. Additionally, he is a pretty great pitcher as well (wouldn't call him the best pitcher in the MLB).
This past season he made it fun for me to watch baseball (not since the best days of the Yankees have I been a fan of the MLB). Shohei had somewhat of that Michael Jordan effect. He made it fun to watch regardless of whether his team couldn't get it together. Moreover, going to the Dodgers is a great idea. I'd say that by stats alone they could be called the 3rd best team in the MLB (second best in the National League).
