If you think it's the proliferation of firearms you'd be wrong , 400 million firearms in private hands these mass shootings despite what you are sold are very rare events. Your options are abolish the Second amendment , which in turn creates more gun violence because you have to now have to collect 400 millions private firearms , so your solution to ending deaths by guns is to kill people with guns to confiscate their guns so you're right back to where you started.

On one hand, I agree with you, that making guns easy to come by, sometimes as simple as breaking into the car in the local boot scooter bar parking lot is a problem. Easy access to high capacity weapons that were designed to kill humans makes no sense to me but some guys like to plunk cans with them so I guess we need them. On the other hand, I look to Mexico where it is illegal for citizens to have guns. So the citizens are easy prey to the bad guys that have all manner of weaponry and the desire to use it. The butchery that goes on in the border towns and along the drug routes, if accurately covered by the news, would shock many a Nintendo warrior.
At this point I'm not sure what the right answer is, but I'm not comfortable with keeping the things as they are now. Perhaps a good start is trying to reduce the amount of long rifles designed to kill humans and go from there.

Fair enough. The task at hand seems to be reducing the risk without impeding Americans rights to own guns. Uzi's aren't allowed.. not sure why. Automatic weapons aren't allowed without a special permit, no clue why that is.. On one hand, I agree with you, that making guns easy to come by, sometimes as simple as breaking into the car in the local boot scooter bar parking lot is a problem. Easy access to high capacity weapons that were designed to kill humans makes no sense to me but some guys like to plunk cans with them so I guess we need them. On the other hand, I look to Mexico where it is illegal for citizens to have guns. So the citizens are easy prey to the bad guys that have all manner of weaponry and the desire to use it. The butchery that goes on in the border towns and along the drug routes, if accurately covered by the news, would shock many a Nintendo warrior.
At this point I'm not sure what the right answer is, but I'm not comfortable with keeping the things as they are now. Perhaps a good start is trying to reduce the amount of long rifles designed to kill humans and go from there.

This goes back to how we raise our kids and what we have allowed our society to become. We've all seen the kid throwing fit in the grocery store because he didn't get the candy he wanted, the parent either gives in or lets them get away with that behavior, instead of whipping that ass. Kids don't know how to loose gracefully anymore, and learn that to win, you need to do better next time. This goes back to how we raise our kids and what we have allowed our society to become. We've all seen the kid throwing fit in the grocery store because he didn't get the candy he wanted, the parent either gives in or lets them get away with that behavior, instead of whipping that ass. Kids don't know how to loose gracefully anymore, and learn that to win, you need to do better next time. The best way to deal with a bully is a punch in the nose, now the kid who stands up for himself is considered just as bad or worse than the bully.

In this case there was enough evidence in advance to do something about it. The school knew (the district will be sued big time), the students knew and the FBI was made aware of this nut case and his social media. He couldn't carry a backpack on campus because they were worried about this.

Depends on the year. There was a time when drinking age was 18. But yeah from what I remember it was enforced pretty well. Having said that, up until at least 1990 drinking was encouraged as an organization. Membership into the Officers Club, NCO Club or Airmens Club was practically mandatory and parties were common place. Around the early 90's the leaders started looking at the DWI's, missed movements and other alcohol related things a little differently.

Depends on the year. There was a time when drinking age was 18. But yeah from what I remember it was enforced pretty well. Having said that, up until at least 1990 drinking was encouraged as an organization. Membership into the Officers Club, NCO Club or Airmens Club was practically mandatory and parties were common place. Around the early 90's the leaders started looking at the DWI's, missed movements and other alcohol related things a little differently.
This was my senior year in h.s. 99-00, when I was 17-18. Seemed to use drinking and partying as a benefit to getting me to enlist, despite the fact I was an athlete and straight-edge in h.s. and didn't drink, smoke weed, or "party" whatsoever. Only interests were training and pretty Asian girls.

The law doesn't stop anyone from doing anything. The law is standard when it comes to drinking age though, even on military bases. Drinking by minors isn't "encouraged" by higher ups (although I'm sure your recruiter was trying to sell you on joining by any means he could) on military bases.

Drugs, weed primarily, since nobody I associated with did "street" drugs, aside from E occasionally, was frowned upon in a big way. They didn't care about booze much at that time. They'd rather have guys stay on base and party/drink if They were underage, rather than go to Tijuana and get arrested (they send MPs down to TJ jail to collect ppl Sunday/Mondays who'd gottenarrested Friday/Saturdays... Or get DUOs/arrested in the US. So long as they showed up to PT in the morning and/orndidnt miss duty, their bosses didn't care.

I think my guns must be defective. All day, every day.....they just sit in my house and don't do shit. They never move, don't ever say a word, never load themselves, never fire not even one bullet on their own.

if we however add guns to the school violence, then the list gets really small.
but guns isnt a problem? ok, then we remove guns. and then we're back at the pretty big list again.
but then what makes a school violence situation worse than another? the number of people killed.
this again narrows the list.

Maybe they aren't tainted with failure, with being brainwashed to think the people are helpless against the government, and that the government doesn't care what you think, they care about staying in government and making money. Hell, the adults haven't done such a great job at this point getting them to listen.. so it certainly can't hurt. If they figure out at 16 that the government doesn't care if you live or die as long as their special interest is protected, they are light years ahead of us when we were that age
