SALT LAKE CITY — Bodybuilder Shawn Rhoden is accused of raping a woman in a Sandy hotel room.
Rhoden, 44, was charged Thursday with rape and object rape, both first degree felonies, and forcible sexual abuse, a second degree felony.
The woman, a female competitive bodybuilder who described Rhoden as a mentor, went to visit Rhoden at his hotel on Oct. 12, 2018, while he was visiting Utah from California, according to the charging documents.
The woman told police that Rhoden forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her, despite her trying to push him away and telling him repeatedly to stop, the charges state. She said Rhoden stopped and let her leave when she told him she needed to go downstairs or else an acquaintance waiting in the lobby would know "something (was) up," according to the charges.
A DNA sample found on the woman's body was matched to Rhoden, police said.
A warrant for his arrest was issued Thursday.
Rhoden — nicknamed Shawn "Flexatron" Rhoden — currently holds the title of Mr. Olympia, awarded annually in an international bodybuilding competition hosted by the International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness.

Bodybuilding superstar Shawn Rhoden -- the 2018 Mr. Olympia winner -- has been charged with 1st degree rape in Utah after allegedly sexually assaulting a female bodybuilder in 2018.
Cops in Salt Lake City tell TMZ Sports ... 44-year-old Rhoden -- who goes by Flexatron -- has not been arrested, but a warrant has been issued.
According to court docs, first obtained by KSL.com, Rhoden's accuser claims she visited Rhoden in his hotel room in Oct. 2018. The unidentified woman told cops she viewed Rhoden as a mentor.
But, during the visit, the woman claims Rhoden forced himself on her -- and despite repeated pleas to stop, he refused. She claims he eventually stopped and let her leave the room.
Officials say the woman went to police and they collected evidence from her body that tested positive for Rhoden's DNA.
Rhoden has been hit with multiple criminal charges including felony rape, object rape and forcible sexual assault.
Rhoden is a huge star in the bodybuilding world -- he has 1.6 million followers on IG and is the reigning Mr. Olympia ... the most prestigious title in the sport. He famously dethroned Phil Heath, the legend who had won the Mr. Olympia competition 7 years in a row.

I don't know, too little to go on at this point. The time difference on the semen sample vs the charge doesn't bother me. She could have got it collected in 2018, and it was only processed recently. He might of only showed up in Utah or been ordered recently to offer up a sample.

Even if he isn't guilty, today is more or less the end of his pro career. He's 44, it's going to be at least a year or 2 before it is settled, then you are going to have add in problems with the wife.

Nothing but the small podunk supplement companies are going to be willing to offer him work. A private institution can revoke membership/sponsorship when criminal charges are brought against an individual, even if they are eventually not found guilty. The SLCPD found enough reason to charge him and issue a warrant, based on physical evidence. That’s more than enough reason (legally & ethically) to ban him from competition.

The statement of competitive female bodybuilder, L.K.H., that on or about October 12, 2018, she, along with a photographer with whom she had just completed a photo session, went to visit her bodybuilding mentor and colleague, Shawn Rhoden, in room 249 of the Marriott Courtyard Hotel located at 10701 South Holiday Park Driver, Salt Lake County. Rhoden was visiting Utah from California. The photographer stayed in the lobby while L.K.H. went to the room. After L.K.H. went into the room, Rhoden started kissing her. He pushed his groin against L.K.H. and she could feel that his penis was erect.
She asked him to stop repeatedly and tried to push him away. The kissing progressed to Rhoden lifting L.K.H.'s shirt, exposing her breasts. Rhoden began sucking on L.K.H's breasts and nipples; she tried to pull her shirt down and continued telling him to stop.
Rhoden bent L.K.H. over the bed, face down and pulled her pants down. L.K.H. continued yelling Rhoden to stop and said she didn't want to do "this". Rhoden flipped L.K.H. over on her back and pulled his penis out of his pants. L.K.H. was scared because Rhoden is much bigger and stronger than she is and he was easily overpowering her. Well the only "evidence" is that when her pussy was examined there was some indication of slight abrasion. (Which as you say, could have been done herself, or by another guy last time she had sex"). A good lawyer could easily discredit that, either with good cross-examination, or via an expert witness (eg another doctor who could indicate that such "abrasions", if they existed at all, are not conclusive of sex, let alone rape.
Another way she could have gotten is DNA, is to have given him a (consensual blowjob), and then she rubbed her saliva form her mouth on her tits. So plenty of ways to do it if she really was trying to set him up.

No, the state of Utah has to prove he is guilty. She brought her story to the local police, who believed her enough to get DNA, write a complaint(s), and charge him. It's up to Rhoden to offer evidence to clear himself.
Even though he may have texts indicating the woman was "obsessed" with him, that won't matter in court. It will prove she knew him, and had reason to visit the hotel room.......those texts will only serve to set the stage for what she alleges. They might see a huge man taking advantage of a woman that likes him. It won't matter for the actual charge, either. Being obsessed with someone doesn't give them the right to assault you. Whether it happened like that or not will be tougher to disprove than to dispell.

I don't think Aceto realizes that AMI doesn't care about Shawn Rhoden the individual. They care about the future of their company and the effects that Rhoden's actions (whether or not true) can have on their company image. If this turns out to be true (that he raped her), it will be a devastating black eye to the world of professional bodybuilding. If it turns out to be false, I am sure they will reinstate him immediately and make a public statement about how their actions were warranted until he was proven innocent.
I'm also not saying that the approach to handling accusations of rape are fair in the grand scheme of things. Today, any woman can go to local law enforcement authorities, claim rape and then the man accused gets arrested with no questions asked. It's very unfair to men that are falsely accused of rape and certainly leaves them traumatized, but that is the best way our legal system knows how to handle the matter. They cast a wide net, catch everything and then figure out who is to blame after the fact.
Companies like AMI don't get second chances. If he gets convicted as a rapist and they decide to not pull out prior to that conviction, they will be seen as supporters. If they pull out early, then retract statements if Rhoden is found innocent, they will be forgiven for their early choices in the setting of incomplete information.

I don't think Aceto realizes that AMI doesn't care about Shawn Rhoden the individual. They care about the future of their company and the effects that Rhoden's actions (whether or not true) can have on their company image. If this turns out to be true (that he raped her), it will be a devastating black eye to the world of professional bodybuilding. If it turns out to be false, I am sure they will reinstate him immediately and make a public statement about how their actions were warranted until he was proven innocent.
I'm also not saying that the approach to handling accusations of rape are fair in the grand scheme of things. Today, any woman can go to local law enforcement authorities, claim rape and then the man accused gets arrested with no questions asked. It's very unfair to men that are falsely accused of rape and certainly leaves them traumatized, but that is the best way our legal system knows how to handle the matter. They cast a wide net, catch everything and then figure out who is to blame after the fact.
Companies like AMI don't get second chances. If he gets convicted as a rapist and they decide to not pull out prior to that conviction, they will be seen as supporters. If they pull out early, then retract statements if Rhoden is found innocent, they will be forgiven for their early choices in the setting of incomplete information.

It's the same way for anyone else in America.
A male doctor has a respectable job. Tomorrow a female patient says that the doctor raped her. Cops will come to the hospital where he practices, arrest him and drag him out like a dog. The hospital will certainly dismiss him until the matter is cleared. The media will get wind of the arrest and will decorate the evening news with it. Before you know it, the doctor's reputation is over with and the hospital decides that regardless of him being found innocent, they would much rather distance themselves from the entire thing as a PR move.
Regardless of role, the accusation of rape is devastating to those falsely accused. If Rhoden was falsely accused, it will take him time to fully recover from this, if at all possible. If he indeed raped the girl, his life is over.

So much craziness going on in this sport as of late. I’d like people to know @therealtechnician charges me for every phone call and $1 per text. I have to pay him taxes on my placings and a surcharge for every room visit. He also demands I give him my first born child and I have to pay him for every #TeamAceto post. In all seriousness I guess we really don’t appreciate things until you hear about other people’s lives. Aceto doesn’t take 40% or 20% or ANY PERCENT of winnings or bonuses or any money for that matter from ANY of his clients including Mr. Olympia. He literally charges everyone the same and gives everyone the same time and priority. There’s always two sides to every story but god am I thankful I have a coach who wants me to progress in this sport and in life without expecting anything in return. No, the state of Utah has to prove he is guilty. She brought her story to the local police, who believed her enough to get DNA, write a complaint(s), and charge him. It's up to Rhoden to offer evidence to clear himself.
Even though he may have texts indicating the woman was "obsessed" with him, that won't matter in court. It will prove she knew him, and had reason to visit the hotel room.......those texts will only serve to set the stage for what she alleges. They might see a huge man taking advantage of a woman that likes him. It won't matter for the actual charge, either. Being obsessed with someone doesn't give them the right to assault you. Whether it happened like that or not will be tougher to disprove than to dispell.

From reading the charges it seems there are things missing from the statement made by LKH. She obviously does resistance training in gyms. So where are comments about her resisting what happened? If she didn't like what was happening she could have done more. She didn't hit him, scratch him, put her hands over her vagina, scream or do much to stop what was happening. Something isn't right here. I wouldn't say sexual intercourse occurred in that room. Fingers were the object in the second charge.

Ron - I have to correct here. I believe these tests are admissible in court. However their results are not determinative of the verdict. In other words the judge or jury can consider the results in making their finding, but they don’t need to rule not guilty just because this is supported by the tests.

Where does it say she pled guilty to wire fraud? The only legal document I saw posted was about another couple with the same last name. And yes. It says later that she and her husband were also charged with 9 others "in related cases". That could just mean that she made a statement to a lender that her sister or brother-in-law (or whatever the relationship) was good for the loan, confirmed that they had assets that they didn't or a net worth much higher than it was etc. I'd like to see a federal crimes blog posting about her case and what she was charged with. Is that out there?

If the site I read about the wire fraud is the same/only one everyone else has seen (federalcrimesblog.com), it's a wordpress blog where federal defense attorneys go to make posts and ultimately advertise their services, nothing at all official about it. I'm sure it's correct in listing this girl as having pled guilty to something related to this wire fraud case, and I'm sure whatever it was specifically can be found somewhere as it should be a matter of public record. But if it is something like I mentioned above, lying to a lender for her relative, of course she pled guilty because her punishment surely was a slap on the wrist. And of course it's unethical and illegal, but I wonder how many people would tell their sister or brother that they wouldn't confirm their $XXXXX net worth or specific (nonexistent) assets when a random banker called for the reference. Unless you're a legal mind or intellectual, odds are you think more about who it is you're being asked to lie to. I agree the accuser should be punished if they lie but it's just as difficult to prove the accuser is lying as it is to prove the accused did it. There have been several women in the past few years who have admitted they lied on Facebook/Instagram and the accused (and convicted) was released from prison but nothing happened to the woman. One case was a guy who had a full ride scholarship to USC to play football and I think the Seahawks let him try out after he was released. The courts fear if they punish those who don't get convictions against the accused then victims will be afraid to come forward.

Agreed, but unless an accuser ADMITS that she lied how can anyone determine it? If two people have sex and she says she was raped and the jury doesn't believe the evidence proves rape do they automatically charge the woman with a false rape charge? We know that will never happen.

The decision to stand him down is a commercial one to protect the ifbb mr olympia brand, but where he's innocent he should be able to claim compensation from them. In business there are many decisions where you can't really win, If it was done under a standard employment agreement the employee could push for reinstatement as he is afforded the presumption of innocence. In a sense this situation is similar I can see lawyers lining up for this if he does get off.

I read it thoroughly when it was first published and quoted from it often ... especialy the chapter which described how roids became a felony over the objections of the AMA (American Medical Association) who, by the way, was the only legit organization who stood up and objected ... with no word from the IFBB nor any other sports federation.

Only thing a bit peculiar is that they had to wait for the DNA sample before the arrest. Sounds like Rhoden said they didn't have sex, as if he said they just had consensual sex they wouldn't have to wait 8 months for the DNA to come in for the arrest, they could just say the sex they had was alleged to be rape and arrest him. DNA would still be taken for trial purposes, but they had to wait for months for the DNA to come in, which sounds like Rhoden said nothing happened. Perhaps to protect his wife or something, but kind of troubling if Rhoden said no sex occurred to the police. Mike Tyson was arrested immediately after the rape complaint because he said he fucked the girl in the hotel consensually when cops questioned him. No waiting for DNA. The laws are different about arrests in different states, but it sounds like Rhoden said no sex occurred.

They also falsely represented that they had gross monthly rental income of $2,550 when in fact they had no rental income. Based on these misrepresentations, the funding on the residential loan was authorized. They each face a maximum sentence of thirty years in federal prison, a fine of up to $1,000,000, and supervised release of up to five years. Sentencings for both defendants are set for January 18, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge in Boise.

Nothing going on. Utah makes it hard to look up things, and the last update was very basic court things, that didn't supply much info. Utah seems to still have their courts under heavy Covid restrictions.

Only thing a bit peculiar is that they had to wait for the DNA sample before the arrest. Sounds like Rhoden said they didn't have sex, as if he said they just had consensual sex they wouldn't have to wait 8 months for the DNA to come in for the arrest, they could just say the sex they had was alleged to be rape and arrest him. DNA would still be taken for trial purposes, but they had to wait for months for the DNA to come in, which sounds like Rhoden said nothing happened. Perhaps to protect his wife or something, but kind of troubling if Rhoden said no sex occurred to the police. Mike Tyson was arrested immediately after the rape complaint because he said he fucked the girl in the hotel consensually when cops questioned him. No waiting for DNA. The laws are different about arrests in different states, but it sounds like Rhoden said no sex occurred.
I think the issue here is that whilst they may have had sex, he didn't cum inside her. Hence if no DNA of his sperms, and if he denies, it becomes his words against hers. Which in a criminal case is not enough to convict.
