Crimea was true democracy in action. The U.S should be pleased. Isn't the U.S all about spreading democracy? ???

Just another useful idiot.
Steven Seagal supports your cause.
Damn, Russia you are really coming up in the world with that ringing endorsement.

But.....But....he was a spy with the CIA and a trained Assassin and is a legend in his own mine along with all his other fantasies.
Yeap, this perve, (google all the sex abuse acquisitions against him. One even by Jenny McCarthy and all the pay outs to women he's done so they wouldn't charge him) and you'll see how freaking buts this guy really is.

Just like the rest of these has been clowns (Jane Fonda, Dennis Rodman, Seagal etc) who go make appearances at these third world countries at the end of the day it's all about themselves.
Dennis Rodman doesn't give a fuck about North Korea.
Seagal doesn't give a fuck about Russia.
In their minds it's just a couple days of media exposure.

Once charismatic and in decent action movies... Mental illness got to him, with delusions of grandeur, beating up women, hurting stuntmen and movies extra, acting like a dick and a perve, telling fables about his fake badassery... Why Seagal? He could've been idolised like Bruce Lee, JCVD, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Scott Adkins, and other "movie fighters", but he ruined it all... He's a decent marksman though...

Every other movie I saw sucked ass. :D

Hard To Kill was decent (his best in my opinion), same Above The Law, of course Under Siege... Decent, not great or superb, but very watchable with their moments... Plus at that time Seagal had his aura of invincible badass with no fancy kicks or moves, it was something different in martial arts movies...
-
that's one of the reasons judo gene put seagal to sleep is seagal has the bad habit of abusing his stuntmen to the point where hes fucking them up pretty bad, broken noses, black eyes, bruised ribs ect.judo gene, who represented the stuntmen asked him in a polite way to tone it down a bit, seagal told him to fuck off basically, bad move steve.rest is history

Heard that too... Still is a bit of a mistery to truly know what really happened with Lebell, Conrad Palmisano said that nothing happened, Diana Lee Inosanto said something was going on but not sure what was, some said that Seagal let Lebell chocke him for showing an escape technique that didn't work... Lebell himself won't tell the true story, probably to avoid legal repercussions... There is also the Francis Fong/Dan Inosanto story...

Out For Justice, up there with the other three decent action movies... Yeah, back in the day he had the look, the charisma and the aura of invincibility like other famous "movie fighters", but he ruined everything with his own hands, and mouth...
-
He is what he says in Aikido. He was one of the only western men to have a Dojo in Japan and train and have the honour to be a disciple of O´sensei. He walked the walk. His comments i do not agree with however.

Every time I saw a Seagal movie, I always hoped the bad guys would beat the crap out of him. Never came true though. ;D
As one person I remember once said, Seagal on film is like a video game character with the "God Mode" cheat on. :D

What is the "Dan Inosanto story?"
Inosanto was a stunman in Out For Justice, friend with Seagal... Story goes that one day Steven Seagal was signing autographs in a mall, Dan Inosanto approached him with his friend Francis Fong... When trying to shake hands, Seagal put Inosanto in a joint lock (a thing Seagal loves to do to other people, supposedly), probably to make himself look good in front of everyone... After, he tried to do it with Fong but the guy supposedly bitch-slapped him putting Seagal down, saying that if he tried to do something he'll kill him... Security escorted both Inosanto and Fong out of the mall...

he probably does have a huge Ego. I liked watching his techniques. His "marui"(circular motion) is very short. very effective. surprising as he comes from an era where Morihei ueshiba was older and his Aikido was much softer and more spiritual.

Many bad stories about Seagal, but also some people that talk positive about him, Dan Inosanto being one of them... Are those bad stories all completely true? Hard to tell... Donny did you practice or practiced Aikido?

yes Tendo Ryu and Iwama Ryu.

Tendo Ryu i like. very Dynamic. Shimizu was a Judo master and he brings a lot of koshi nage (hip throws) in his school of Aikido. I met him in Germany at a Seminar. An old video but i love it.

What do you think about real-life applications of Aikido techniques on average joes, bar brawls and similar? Are some techniques effective also against trained fighters? I'd like to know your take on this...
-
well if i was going in that direction i would go for Yoshinkan Aikido or Daito Ryu, the fore runner of Aikido. Much more direct with Atemi waza striking. I am a Dan Grade and can use some things from it. the Tai Sabaki body movements. Some joint locks are very , very painful. Truth be told the best things i learned was Army Boxing. Taking a punch and still getting stuck in.

I hope you are trolling. Aikido is a bullshido, nobody takes it serious as a martial art. And yes, Steven Seagal is a fraud, sorry to knock your fatfuck idol of his self made pedestal, but Segal is considered a joke by anybody serious about the fighting business. Old man Gene Lebell choked out Steven on a movie set after Segall bragged he couldn't be choked out. Segall actually shit his pants and stunk up the place. Randy Couture offered to come out of retirement to kick Segall's arse in a sanctioned fight, Segall refused and made some childish offer to fight to the death in a secret location with no witnesses. Segal is a delusional, mentally retarded loser, Aikido is gayer than ballet and 'CHI' doesn't exist. Hope this helps.
Here's what happens to bullshido proponents when in a real fight.

Didn't you hear the guy offer $5k to the first guy who could take Gino's badge? That's why they came at him one at a time. ;D
Gino knew how to handle women too - he could be a white knight or show his pimp hand at the drop of a hat when the situation called for it...
He also supported small businesses:

Basically yes, but Inosanto is not a fighter or a tough guy, not even close, he will tell you that himself...Seagal is a fraud. Couldn't handle white belts who had a month of jui jitsu training without tapping out. On top of it he is and has always been incredibly out of shape.
Seagal was in shape back in the days, plus he had an imposing tall figure with lots of leverage... He's no doubt a master of Aikido, problem is, could many of his techniques work with a trained boxer, kickboxer, muay thai practitioner, bjj practitioner or even beginners, other than average joes? Not sure, but Donny has infinitely more experience than me on this subject...
-
Who was it who posted here years ago about how Seagal was a cuckold who used to pay Chris Duffy and other big bodybuilders to screw his then-wife Kelly LeBroc in front of him?

This is actually really funny! Was this a new story piece / excerpt?
I do respect Stevens previous aikido accomplishments but towards the end of the video he's just cloths-lining people who are running at him....with their hands by their sides....too funny!

There is a difference between being a martial artist or a fighter... Inosanto is mostly a Wing Chun teacher/master that followed the Jeet Kune Do philosophy, and an actor, a "movie fighter"... He will tell you that himself... There are thousands of black belts/masters that never fought or even sparred a day in their life... Martial artists? Absolutely... Fighters? No...

Met the man in 2002 at my local Aikido dojo (best one in my city). Dude was HUGE (easily 6'4"-6'5"). Hands like a catchers mit. He did some exhibition and 5 guys in my dojo all attacked him at once. NO ONE came close to even budging him.

Years back there was a group of legit old competitors (not MMA guys) calling him out to prove his nonsense. Needless to say he didn't take them up on it. Bob Wall was one of 'em, but I forget the others.
I'll happily admit, Seagal's style looks fantastic on screen, better than most. But let's be honest; it's Bruce Lee all over again. Dudes aren't fighters; they're "artists."

Aikido is the modern watered down version of Daito Ryu. The Grounder of Aikido was a master of Daito Ryu and was tought by Sokaku Takeda. i suggest you read up on it´s origins and why the grounder of aikido turned it into a "Way",..or "DO"... Seagal is not my Hero but unlike you i understand what he is doing. Judo is also a "Way" which i also have a Background in. Indeed Kenji tomiki a very talented master of Judo and later Aikido formed a synthesis of the two. Aikido is not the best for self defence and i would tell people to combine boxing and Judo. I like the traditional and moral aspects to Aikido, i smiled at your post. try it and we´ll talk.

guess you were too tough ::)
since u brought it up like that, ill tell u. it wasn't a matter of being tough,it was a matter of I made all 4 top instructors tap out in pain to the same move(keylock from side control),then the main teacher wouldn't go with me saying I was wreckless and not following the principles of aikido ???. him and his instructors where the ones that where saying they would beat any UFC guy in no time, guess what im far from UFC level and I took them down with a basic wrestling move and was surprised to find out how weak their ground game where, the instructors kept asking me to give them my wrist and I said no,u got to get it on your own ::) in a fight no ones gonna give you their wrist if u ask for it,lol, wtf is that :anyway they called cops on me when I questioned why I had to leave,i wasn't causing trouble, just asking why I had to leave since I submitted all the instructors.needless to say I had 5 of the students follow me outside asking me for the name of the MMA/BJJ school I go to cause they said fuck this aikido shit,we want what u learned

Does not matter what system you do it does not make you Hard. they train in the way you mentioned so it´s controlled and there is no injury. What you do has a competition element like Judo. Traditional Aikido does not have competition, apart from tomiki Aikido which i mentioned. I can only assume you were in an Aiki Kai Dojo and some schools are very soft. believe me if i get trouble outside i use my paws ;) So you had all the kids praising you outside did you? well i guess you´re a guy to watch out for...eh?

im far from a guy to watch out for,im an old man now and my good days r far behind me :'(. im just telling of a incident that happened to me back in the day,the dudes who followed me outside where actually middle aged guys. i actually went to the aikido school with good intentions in my heart,i wanted to learn some small joint locks to help in in my self defense arsenal and i read some good stuff on aikido and how it can help, the instructors weren't bad guys to be honest, the teacher was the instigater and the instructors where just following their great leader ;)the teacher prolly woulda handed me my ass that day if i went at it with him, like i said i was just trying to learn some new stuff to help my self defense techniques and i guess the teacher took it the wrong way. i don't understand why he wanted to get me locked up for wrestling his instructors, maybe if i woulda screamed and said please stop maybe the instructors woulda slapped me on my keester and smiled and we all woulda went out for some ice cream and pizza after training and sang some john mellencamp tunes

No probs man... It really depends on the Teacher. I first went to a Guy here in Celle who was teaching Aikido from a German organization and was with another Brit. He was one of these Teachers who played more emphasis on KI. I then trained in Hannover and found a man who was totally different in his approach and who had lived many years in Japan. His training was no no nonsense Iwama Ryu which is more Old School. Painful at times. He said to me one time,"we must control the aggressor". He was not a dreamer. Brazilian Jui Jitsu is very effective and ground work is excellent, i know what it´s like to be put in a choke. I personally found Aikido a great way to relax and like the Traditional aspect.

im pretty sure a LEGIT aikido teacher would hand me my ass tho with out much problems,to be honest that's why i like stuff like aikido and pancration cause they do crazy, gruesome shit. original aikido and pancrase practicioners would eye gouge u and break your fingers by bending them backwards and shit :oeven bjj pisses me off with that shit off starting on the knees, a real fight don't start on the knees ::)that's why i only do NO-GI SUBMISSION GRAPPLING,i mean what happens if u r on the beach with no clothes and cant grab nothing?thats why i hate that GI, to be honest PANCRATION is one of the best forms of fighting on the planet,it combines all sorts of striking, grappling ect. pancration they break fingers backwards, break toes, eye gouge, fishhook the mouth, rip off your testicles ect, real juicy yet effective shit :)

Yes, he did believe his own bullshit. This video is a classic. Martial Arts is good for kids because it gives them something to do with their time. I think it was GracieBjj who mentioned that he has his kid(s) in wrestling. I think this is a better activity.

im pretty sure a LEGIT aikido teacher would hand me my ass tho with out much problems,to be honest that's why i like stuff like aikido and pancration cause they do crazy, gruesome shit. original aikido and pancrase practicioners would eye gouge u and break your fingers by bending them backwards and shit :oeven bjj pisses me off with that shit off starting on the knees, a real fight don't start on the knees ::)that's why i only do NO-GI SUBMISSION GRAPPLING,i mean what happens if u r on the beach with no clothes and cant grab nothing?thats why i hate that GI, to be honest PANCRATION is one of the best forms of fighting on the planet,it combines all sorts of striking, grappling ect. pancration they break fingers backwards, break toes, eye gouge, fishhook the mouth, rip off your testicles ect, real juicy yet effective shit :)
Yep, can't remember the last time I found myself squaring off with some belligerent drunk who happened to be wearing a gi.
"I would have had him but there was a textile malfunction. His Target shirt ripped at the lapel so I couldn't get him over."

It´s not the style/art but the man behind it. You can teach a coward everything you know but if he has not the Heart..well you know what i mean. I was always fast with my hands as a young guy and i can say that without being big headed. however when i did Army Boxing i learned Discipline. the man who tought me and i respect i still write to on Facebook. In his prime was a very hard man but was always good to me.

So if your opponent doesn't give up u have to submit by break his arm, choke him off. What's the difference than trying to break your knee? I do believe striker has always the upper hand vs grappler if there are no rules. But I think there is a big difference who submits through grappling and striking without remorse any bodypart. Grappler do have 3 choices: holding till he gives up, opponent struggles in your hold and submits himself, lastly u have to submit which is mentally the hardest.
Striker without limit can have only one option, having no remorse.
But in our socity the chance u will meet a real killer striker, is lower than u have to face Jon Jones or Bas Rutten :D

funny interview.. rambling but don´t answer the question.

Yeah but different style can produce more effective fighters on average. U can meet a very skilled wing chun fighter but these are very rare, or boxer even the worst one's are dangerous.
It's because in wing chun they spar never full contact or when they do with full armored gear :D
Boxing through sparing hardens u emotionally. Most traditional martial artist when they get hit once, they are shocked cause they never dealt with it. They all practice in a civilized environment.
So your best bet to learn self defense art is, where they simulate as smilar as possible a real encounter.

Remember a guy in Scotland we called Del. Was an ex Argyll and southern Highlander. He was confronted with a guy who went into a Karate stance..i shit you not. Del said i´ll show you Karate Army style and dropped the guy- this i swear is true. was just fast and aggressive. Not a big guy but knew the score.

There are a lot Karate styles but I know shotokan do practice a lot sparing, and they are forward oriented and explosive with their fist from the waist. U see some succesful in kickboxing or mma like Glaube Feitosa, Lyoto Machida.
I like Karate, they adapt a lot and try to differentiate from traditional. But it still depends from school or how talented u are.
Or what u said army style, that means their training is different than usual one's.

I know Shotokan and i did try this too. I also did Wado Ryu which is an off shoot from shindo Yoshin Ryu/shotokan. these "soft" and fast body movement i always liked too in Wado Ryu.
-
I tel with Suzuki Sensei(RIP) and i have a letter from him. i have posted this before. He was one of the old school masters of Wado Ryu. His comments on shotokan an Kyokushinkai were it´s only with strength and not Sabaki.

Why is Bob Wall an iidot?
Some interviews i read/view from him, regarding the martial arts world, i came to that conclusion... Just my opinion...

Why do you sound so much like envy cunt? If you deny all the facts, maybe you are right in some pervert way, but in the real world things are weighted by the facts, not by the rumors. Let me spell the facts for your:
1. Seagal used to have his own dojo in Osaka, Japan at 1970-80. Then he open dojo in Taos, New Mexico, with his student (and later film stuntman) Craig Dunn, and after that at 1983 in Burbank, California, but later moved it to the city of West Hollywood.
2. In those dojos he have teach thousands of people, years BEFORE he start acting.
3. He was found to his first and hugely successful action film in 1988 entitled “Above the Law" from that dojo in Hollywood.
4. He really is a 7th dan degree and Shihan in Aikido. You can't get that with money, you has to earn it. Highest ranking is 10th dan
5. He have been teaching Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida, two highly rated MMA fighters.
So if he is fake, why all this? Both, Silva and Machida has used his techniques in the ring, and they give credits for Seagal with no hesitation. Common factor among these guys is that they have balls, and you are just another wanker, with no life outside of the Internet. Hope this helps..

Oh poor ropo, for someone who isn't easily sucked in by conspiracy theories,it is surprising you are so gullible as to not be able to identify a fraudulent martial arts based on nonsense like Chi. His qualifications are equivalent to a 7th degree black belt in macrame. He never taught Anderson or Lyoto anything, they just went along with it because they are polite. He tried the same shit on Jon Jones who promptly told him to 'Fuck Off". His attempts to latch onto prominent UFC fighters is a desperate attempt by a B grade actor to remain relevant.
There is a good reason there are zero aikido practitioners in the UFC. If Seagal wanted to quieten the doubters he has had multiple opportunities to do so. Randy Couture, Bas Rutten, Nam Phan and even Ronda Rousey have called this douchebag out only to have Seagal refuse like the coward he is. He does this because he knows there will always be gullible people who know nothing about fighting think that he is an accomplished fighter through the power of his bullshit. If he actually fights someone and inevitably gets his arsekicked this will remove all doubt and even the gullible individuals like you will have to admit he is a fraud.
Fighting has always attracted such delusional types, and for those in the know, Seagal is an object of ridicule.

He never “ran his own aikido school.” He married Myako Fujitani, in 1975. It was the connection to Myako’s father that enabled Seagal to be the first westerner to run a dojo in Japan. When they first married, he went to the school, his mother-in-law owned it, and his wife ran it. It was never his school. I believe it was also Fujitani's father who granted him the title of 7th dan or at least expedited his rise through the ranks.

Could Steven Segal fight a pitbull?
I did actually research this after the attack on myself, defense against an attacking dog, there isn't much useful information out there. Pitbulls attack is considered unique compared to other dogs, considering it tends to grip and shake/tear. Some people suggest letting the pitbull latch on and remain gripped onto you while you take it down and either try and choke it out, crush it or poke it's eyeballs out (apparently pitbulls have weak eye sockets/connections that are easily dislodged with some force). One of the problems with defending against an attacking pitbull is that the very first attack can be disabling. A friend of mine who is an MMA fighter and Instructor actually fought a dog once for a demonstration. He said when fighting a dog it is best to get down on it's level and try and neutralise it's main weapon (it's jaws) although I don't know of many people who would try such a thing. He said against multiple dogs like pitbulls it is a pretty hard ask to successfully defend yourself (there are many factors involved).
A few years ago a UFC fighter by the name of Kyacey Uscola was attacked by pitbulls outside the TUF house. As far as I was aware he didn't suffer any permanent injuries, but they did tear his hand up pretty bad as well as chunks bitten out of his shoulder, hip, hamstring and one of the dogs bit a hole right through his penis and he had to have a catheter for two weeks.

And why the name change?

Now back to my question
Could Segal fight a pitbull?
And why the name change?
I don't know. I don't know of anyone who has ever volunteered to do so. It is my belief that a well trained fighting pitbull would quite possibly overwhelm any opponent, and two or more would have little problem killing an unarmed man. I wouldn't have thought this before my experience, but when you experience something first hand you tend to have a pretty realistic understanding of what is involved. For those who haven't seen real pits in action, they can only imagine. Sometimes an owner can successfully stop the attack or defend against their pitbull when it attacks, but with strangers the attack is normally more intense. I have heard many stories of attacking pitbulls being very difficult to stop, even with bullets. The problem is their are lots of lookalike pitbulls, dogs that have had their game bred out of them by do-gooder pet breeders, so it is difficult to tell a genuine fighting pit from some meatheads pet, but sometimes even the meatheads pit can snap and have it's genetic legacy kick in.

There's a chance any man could. Martial arts training helps more or less against other humans, I don't know of any advantage it would give you against animal attacks. I changed the name because I was tired of the old one, I have become a different person since the time I chose that name. Change is always nice when we choose it, don't you think.

Have to agree here also... There is no doubt that Seagal is the real deal regarding Aikido, but is he an accomplished fighter? No, he's not, no records of him ever fighting someone... Could his techniques work against peasants, average joes, and such? Yes i think so, probably... Could he defeat a decently trained fighter in legit arts? Probably not, let alone professional fighters... Just my opinion...

sounds about right, lots of stories about seagal and his co stars and stuntmen having altercations floating around. Most say he's an arsehole,
here's one from john leguizamo on executive decision. click the link for more
“We were in rehearsals for Executive Decision. I’m playing his Master Sargeant and we come in for rehearsals and he says, ‘I’m in command. Everything I say is law. Anybody doesn’t agree?’ I was like, ‘Bwahahaha.’ I started cracking up because he sounded like a retard and he came up and he Taekwondo’ed my ass against the brick and he [hit me with his elbow],” Leguizamo recalled. “He’s six-foot-five and he caught me off guard and knocked all of the air out of me and I was like, ‘Why?! Why?!’ I really wanted to say how big and fat he was and that he runs like a girl, but I didn’t because all I could say was, ‘Why?!’ Why’d he slam me against the wall? We were rehearsing. What’s the bid deal? Why can’t I call him names? If I can’t let it out it’s going to build like a cancer.”

Security escorted both Inosanto and Fong out of the mall...

when will segal fight jean claude?
Story goes that when Sylvester Stallone did a party at his house in 1997, both Van Damme and Seagal were there... Seagal never liked JCVD for some reasons, calling him a ballerina and only a bodybuilder, not a legit martial artist/fighter (well, he's not wrong to be honest), saying that he could kick his ass... Van Damme, who was supposedly a bit drunk, challenged Seagal to a real fight in the backyard, tired of hearing him talk shit... Seagal declined, left Stallone's house going to a club, and an angry Van Damme surprisingly followed, challenging him again... Seagal refused... If this story is mostly true, not a great thing on Seagal's resume... I mean, you shouldn't run from a sober JCVD, let alone from a drunk one if you are supposedly a super tough guy like Seagal claims to be...

Like Halo said, JCVD isn't a fighter either, i also heard from many accounts that he's not exactly a "lionheart"... So probably found the courage to challenge Seagal due to being drunk, but he probably waited Seagal to accept or to make the first move...

i just speculated that
he's a pretty boy who is good at fancy kicks
was a very good bodybuilder also
these things dont generally add up to a tough customer

Seagal talks like he knows for a fact jcvd isnt a martial artist but van damme actually has a solid fight history and was only knocked to the canvas once. His fight history was questioned early on as he fought under his real name van varenberg. No matter what seagal thinks jcvd has used his martial arts at a competitive level. Seagal has as far as i know/ or can find out has never competed and fought an actual opponent who isnt running at him, offering his wrist and flipping themselves over.
So sorry fellas but jcvd is legit, his competive history is on imdb, makes an interesting read

Agreed mostly, i know about the Van Varenberg thing, but there is also serious speculations that his "fighting record" is fraudulent... What i've seen of a young JCVD is mostly very light contact/sparring kickboxing... Better than nothing but not exactly a testament of fighting prowess...I'm guessing Stallone could probably drop 'em both.
Well, Stallone was/is always a very conditioned mofo, and he could probably throw decent punches since training some boxing for Rocky movies...

this segal guy is fucking funny

There is footage of actual contest online though not alot. It was spoken about in his reality show. He explained how different screen fighting is from actual fighting and demonstrated to other actors, he knows his shit.

So, you decide to show all of us, that you don't know twat about the Japanese society? Women running the business? Of course, my friend, and cows will fly over the hills. We are talking about Japan, where Male have all the rights, and women have what male gives to her, and nothing more. Women running business at Japan 1975? In your dreams maybe. And look what you write: "He never ran his own aikido school", and in the next sentence: "enabled Seagal to be the first westerner to run a dojo in Japan"? He never run the aikido school, but he was a first westerner who run a dojo in japan? Dojo = martial arts school = aikido school, so what the fuck you are talking about? Seagal may be a prick, but regardless of that, he is aikido master. Just try to live with that.

lol. Nobody cares about Aikido, it is considered a joke, a fraudulent martial art. He may as well be a black belt in macrame.

why is it Fraudulent? explain what you mean?

why is it Fraudulent? explain what you mean?
it doesnt work against a resisting opponent
it's based on "you do this, then i do this" exercises

It's ineffective in a real fight, and may even put you at a disadvantage if you believe it is a legitimate martial art. Hope this helps.

The school wasn't his because he didn't own it. He ran his wife's fathers dojo. He married into the business and running it had nothing to do with his ability or initiative.

Be careful with Ropo's feelings, you are exposing his idol of many years as the gimmick he is. Some people never recover when their chosen idols fall from their pedestal and it sounds like ropo has a pretty strong crush on Seagal.

I got the crush vibe from ropo toward Seagal. I fell for that gimmick shit myself when I was a kid. Hell, when I was a kid I thought Schwarzenegger was really as tough as the characters he played.

have you trained in Aikido ? for how long? what school of Aikido was it? tell me the techniques you found ineffective and why? you are entitled to your opinion of course.

That's normal, many younger people are easily fooled by their elders. This is why Seagal refuses to fight legitimately and prove himself, he knows he will get his arse kicked and the illusion will be shattered. He enjoys the illusion and having the gullible worship and idolise him because they don't know how to differentiate the conman from the genuine deal. Add in some movies where he appears to be invincible and then carry that some presence into real life, you have a great conman. I will give Seagal props for creating a great gimmick and being an excellent conman, it has helped his B grade acting career but most of all it fuels his deficient ego that needs this type of artificial prop to feel valid. I have met many people like this, they are great tricksters, but once called out they have a myriad of techniques to shy away from any real challenge or confirmation of their claims.

I studied a little aikido as a youngster as part of a cross dojo training program. One of the best aspects of Aikido is its focus on balance and the manipulation of an opponents balance. I don't have extensive experience in Aikido but I do appreciate the awareness of my own body I gained from my brief instruction.

good answer. It takes a long time to learn. If you want effective self defence fast then i would go for Wing chun. I like the traditional aspect of Aikido. All these film stars have Egos regardless of Background in Martial Arts.

I trained in boxing which is a legitimate fighting technique. And one doesn't need to practise something to know it is fraudulent, you just need to study, observe and use reasoning. Is it a reasonable suggestion that CHI actually exists, of course not, it is superstitious rubbish. Is it likely someone will act docile and hand you their wrist in a fight so you can manipulate it, of course not. Is it likely that people throw a punch and leave their punch extended without quickly retracting it, of course not. Like most things in life, the cream rises to the top, so if aikido was legitimate martial art we would see it succesfully used in the street and in mixed martial arts, but we don't. Aikido is a money making gimmick aimed at the gullible and naive, classic con man snake oil sales.
Most fights revert back to the basics, throwing punches and wrestling, if you know a few submission techniques even better. But martial arts like Aikido, Wushu, Capoeira and the like appeal to those who don't actually ever want to fight, but just feel like they can if need be. The only problem being if they do get in an actual fight they often get their arse kicked by someone not bogged down in ridiculous ritualistic techniques and ineffective manoeuvres who just has the heart to scrap and fight. Such martial arts appeal to the yuppies and the comfortable middle classes who would get the shock of their life if you busted them hard in the nose with a stiff jab. All some people need is a comfortable illusion of something, like being able to fight. Aikido definitely provides such an illusion to those willing to suspend critical thought (which is most people)
Aikido is probably great against a defenceless opponent who is unwilling or unable to engage in a fight or is reluctant and restrained in his attack, like say in a law enforcement scenario, where the target is a passive and unwilling combatant. But in terms of handling a young strong, fit hostile opponent who knows the basics of grappling and can throw a decent punch and has targeted you as his next victim, you will soon regret years wasted on aikido and wonder if you shouldnt have taken up running instead. If you want to feel good about yourself, feel spiritual or simply improve your fitness, Aikido is probably a good choice. If you want to become a more dangerous individual, aikido is probably a poor choice.
-
Aiki Ju Jutsu(Daito Ryu) then Aiki Budo. it was later Aikido. The Grounder of Aikido.

This x 1000... The same could be said for every other invincible movie fighter, like Bruce Lee, Tony Jaa, Scott Adkins, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, JCVD, and all others... Difference is that nice guys like Chan and Li, for example, know their places, others like Seagal do not... He was something different with no fancy moves, had that charismatic misterious character in late 80s, early 90s, first movies were decent, but he ruined everything with his mouth and actions... good answer. It takes a long time to learn. If you want effective self defence fast then i would go for Wing chun. I like the traditional aspect of Aikido. All these film stars have Egos regardless of Background in Martial Arts.
Don't know about Wing Chun Donny, to me looks laughable and the less legit TMA of them all... Aikido can have something useful for self defence, but slapping Wing Chun?
-
sorry but i saw this and laughed..
-
Ever since I first saw "Master of the Flying Guillotine" I have been in awe of and scared excrementless of Kung Foo Fighters.
There was one film wherein the two good guys had to fight the one evil bad dude at the end and they kept changing "styles". They tried "Monkey Style" and got the bananas beat out of them. Then they tried "Tiger Style" and promptly got declawed. The final straw was when they recovered from yet another failed "style" of fighting one of them said...
"Change to Doggy Style" and the theater exploded in laughter. True story.
Bruce Lee was once asked why most martial arts films are set a few centuries ago and he replied, "No guns."
I think that stuff is cool and could never do it myself.

So you are saying that those MMA fighters are just plain stupid when they hire Seagal to teach them? This has to mean that MMA is just as fake and ridiculous fucking farce as the American wrestling is, because those fucking pricks are stupid enough to hire an actor to teach them fighting ;D
And what you little children's seem to be incapable to comprehend is the fact, that Aikido is only for defense. It doesn't include attacks at all, it is purely defensive martial art, so if you want to bully first graders at the schoolyard, it doesn't do the job. What Seagal do in the movies is mix of kung fu, aikido and what ever he have pick on his way to Hollywood. What you child's don't understand is the fact, that he were teaching aikido decades before he became an actor. Surely I understand that you with your little foil hats would believe that he had fake schools with fake students, and fake incomes and fake taxes from them just to build his image, so he could start making those b-movies something like twenty years later, but isn't that little bit too big stretch even to your pervert imagination? ;D ::)

Nobody ever hired Seagal to teach them anything, he latched onto them like a leech. They just happened to be fans of his movies and he took that opportunity to weasel his way into PRETENDING to train them. They were just polite so they indulged him. You are obviously oblivious to techniques that washed up actors use in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. Seagal is using any opportunity he can to remain in the spotlight, using a couple of UFC fighters to do so is just another ploy. His latest one is to latch on to Vladimir Putin. Once the fighters realized what he was up to and taking credit for their hard work, they quickly distanced themselves from him.
Why on Earth would the most successful UFC champion NEED a B Grade actor to teach him how to fight. Look Ropo, you obviously have a hard-on for Seagal and a deep need to believe that he is the real deal, but he is an ACTOR, not a fighter. The idea that a portly Aikido guy taught two kicking masters a kick that is learned in every child's first karate class is absurd. Don't forget, Seagal was chocked out by an old man and actually SHIT his pants, stinking up the place, all in front of dozens of witnesses.
Fellow Brazilian and top ranked UFC Fighter Damian Maia had this to say about the dubious relationship between the fighters and the B Grade movie actor. "The bloated fake martial artist and movie actor Steven Seagal has absolutely nothing to teach a real fighter like Silva, and everyone knows it. That’s a lie, it is marketing. He never taught anything to Anderson…it is a joke.”
This is a direct quote from Anderson Silva "Steven Seagal is good man. There’s no coach, no train me, but is good man. Just a good person, that’s it. … Yeah, I train the front kick for long time. I start to train martial arts for long time ago. Steven Seagal showed me the movement, the little movement, but don’t teach me this kick. Because I working hard for this kick for long time in my life."

I remember an Argyll and Southern Highlander Recruiting Sgt talking about fighting. After i signed on i met him a few Days after by chance in a pub and had a drink with him. What is funny is that he is completely right. I love when Americans who have absolutely NO idea about complexities of eastern Europe are first to jump into conclusions just because it is Russia and "Putin is bad". Let me clue you in. Putin is just as bad as any politician on this level, he just just fucking better at what he is doing. On top of that, this conflict is far more complex than you can imagine. Despite what you were brainwashed to believe, on the other side of that conflict there are no good, oppressed Ukrainian civils. Look up for UPA, then check out photos from Ukraine. You will see their flags everywhere.

This is mother killed with his child by Ukrainian missle. Look up how many civils were killed by Ukrainians and how many by separatists so far.
I am proud citizen of Poland and as such, I take no sides here. Ukrainian right wing extremists are natural enemies of my country. Soviets were our enemies as well, but I don't see Russians putting motherfucking soviet flags everywhere. Personally, I would take no sides in this conflict and just let them bleed.

This, obviously... I think Seagal "training" Silva and Machida was mostly a publicity stunt, nothing more... Seagal is a movie star, not a fighter... Yes, he's the real deal and a master in Aikido, a self defence art useful against average joes at best... Regarding Lebell, no shame in being choked out by a judo master, MMA pioneer like him, although old... But it was Seagal's arrogance that put him in that situation, letting a guy like Lebell put a choke on him thinking that he could escape...
-
That .gif above of him doing the little run and kick (with the text) is AWESOME. ;D
-
Apparantly no interviewer is allowed to probe him about lebell, if anyone steers in that direction he gets very aggressive.

Perhaps you missed the subtlety when he said "Well, if a guy soils himself, you can’t criticize him, because if they just had a nice big dinner an hour before, you might have a tendency to do that." Gene is just being polite and avoiding any further embarrassment for Steven. It wasn't Gene who spread the story but the witnesses on the set.
He wasn't rambling merely being humble feeling no need to brag about it.
AH: So, did that happen?
GL: You can't be bragadocious if you've done something. Everybody has their individual things that have happened. I personally don't think you should put down, as many people do with Steven, because he's trying to do his best.
AH: So does that mean, Gene, that you will not confirm this actually took place?
GL: "Well, if 30 people are watching, let them talk about it. You interview a boxer or a wrestler and its 'I, I, I' and 'me, me, me.' What do I know? Gene LeBell knows Gene LeBell. And if I tell ya the stories … everybody that tells you a story is the hero of their own story.
Also I heard Seagal claimed he was just using a famous CHI manipulation trick, he said shitting your pants is an effective way of preventing any further attack. ;D

He went in a Back door simple as that , Rambled on like he forgot what he was saying. Talking about other things. No disrespect but he is an old man. Maybe confused about the old days on the mat.

The folks LeBell mentioned, unless they were all invented by an old man's confusion. Why is it so hard to believe an experienced judo practitioner choked out an Aikido-trained movie star?

One man's story is all, no proof. Just wondering why you think he'd make it up? Totally possible, of course, but how do you think it'd go down if it did happen? Aikido on top?
Big Seagal fan, are ya?

I repeat it´s not the style but the Man. I like his Aikido yes but i am not a Fan of anyone. I have a Judo Background too as well as Aikido. Judo was the first system i took up. I see the benefits in both and so did Kenji Tomiki who combined both systems which is very popular today. Take the good points from both systems. Look at the Background of Judo it´s a synthesis of various schools of Traditional Jui Jitsu. The Kata at Dan level shows this.

the seagal/lebelle story is well known to anybody whos even remotely into MMA,SEAGAL threatened to sue lebelle and said he and his stunt men will never work in Hollywood again if the story goes out of that room.thats how the whole thing started, seagal was brutalizing lebelles guys(stuntmen) on the sets of his movies and they would go back and talk to gene about it. gene confronted seagal and seagal said something in the effect of genes style couldn't put rip van winkle to sleep never mind an aikido master like me, that's when gene made seagal piss and shit in his pants, I got nothing against seagal,im just telling what really happened.its just like the TITO ORTIZ story when lee murray knocked tito down in a bar in England, the tito fans just wouldn't believe it,they went into denial cause their hero got dropped. even tho matt hughes and pat militich saw it close up still the tito fans where saying its a lie, face it and accept it that it happened, seagal got showed up period. anybody on any givin day can get ko,d or choked out so what makes seagal different?
-
I'm not a fan and this story is old news ...so you were there? You seem to talk like you had a ring side seat

How about printing instructions on a t-shirt? One of the weakness I encountered sparing with a wing chung and aikido practitioner was their inability to handle straight whipping punches, particularly the jab. I was much more difficult for them to grab that kind of punch.

wing chun uses straight chain punches.

wing chun uses straight chain punches.
Straight down the middle punches were difficult for them to deflect and grab because it limited the amount of surface area such as the inside of the forearm. They were better with looping punches like hooks.

well probably why Bruce lee integrated western Boxing in his fighting. The wing chun/ving tzun/wing tzun...etc train with sticking hands. Non the less i have seen good wing Chun guys who were very fast and block and attack in one move. there are not just punches. some good stuff in there. The Leung Ting system below is the biggest in Germany, promoted here by Keith R Kernsprecht.

Keith R Kersprecht has made a lot of money from this system mainly in Europe but also had some schools in the US too.

Agreed... I would go as far as saying that Seagal was not even that bad of an actor, and his first movies were good action/MA flicks, he had charisma and his way of "fighting" was something new and different compared to Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, JCVD and Jackie Chan...
-
Agreed... I would go as far as saying that Seagal was not even that bad of an actor...

Well, it depends whose lies you are eager to believe, and as we know, any fucking lie is good enough for you guys. As story goes, Silva contacted Seagal and they met few times, Segal help him refine some movements, which is all true and just like Silva says in that interview. Everything else is deliberate misunderstanding and misrepresenting the matter, done by envy brats and haters like you. And lets see what that another MMA fighter, Lyoto Machida, says about the matter: "I train this kick a lot. I've had it in my arsenal, and I just had to wait for the right moment to pull the trigger and utilize it. The technique itself [Silva and I have] both known for a long time. But I definitely think Steven Seagal being involved and influencing us and helping us perfect the kick definitely made a difference....[Seagal] always reinforced that to me – to try that kick. 'That kick will land, and it will work.' I definitely give credit to him for helping me perfect that kick."
So is he saying that Seagal teach everything he knows about the martial arts, or do he tell that Seagal help him to perfect that kick? Of course you could blow that out of proportions by lying what ever comes to your pervert little mind, but there is always also the truth. Watch those videos what are available, and try to understand what there is going on. Just keep on mind that Seagal is 62 years old, 6" tall and weights something like 350lb, so he is fat old guy. You don't see him doing cartwheels or jump kicks because he is too fat.
You clearly get a hard-on when you can spread those rumors, which you believe like all other crap, without any thinking at all. In situation like Segall vs Lebell, who has everything to lose, and who has everything to gain? Would you hear the absolute truth from the pitiful has been like Lebell, which just about no one even know who the fuck he is? Why Seagal would even start to play with the old bum like that? I bet it is just like Seagal says, it never happen. And what dozens of witnesses? Like those imaginary witnesses, who pop out from the woodwork to witness every fucking foil hat theory? How many dozen would fit in one trailer, where all of this happen? And why this is happening larger than life for you and the haters? Because there this fake martial artist meet his destiny, by the hands of the JUDO MASTER. So Aikido is fake martial art, and judo isn't? In fact, they are from same branch of the martial arts family three, both evolved from Japanese jujitsu at the same time. On the technical side, Aikido is rooted in several styles of jujitsu (from which modern judo is also derived), in particular daitoryu-(aiki)jujitsu, as well as sword and spear fighting arts. So it is just as fake as all of the martial arts, those which MMA has has born from.
So, if it is marketing, who is marketing what? Did Silva and that another guy have a need to make fool out themselves by taping actor teaching them how to fight? Who gain and what in this marketing act? If Seagal is only part who would benefit from it, because these fighter has lost all their street credibility, why bother to kiss his ass? There has to be motive why these fighters let those videos spread all over the internet. What it would be? You can't answer, because you never think things that far. Truth is just as it has been said, Segal help them refine some of the movements, and they were quite happy for it, until Rogan and bunch of complete assholes start their crap throwing campaign. After Silva realize that his credibility is on the line, he start to take some distance about the matter.
HEY LYOTO, DO THIS
(http://share.gifyoutube.com/ywX69e.gif)
Have you even watch that complete video? In that clip Seagal shows how to close the distance to the opponent in the way, which gives you the opportunity to use front kick straight from the step without stop or jump. This clip only prove that you are happy to eat all the crap what foil hat produce at the front of you, without any thinking at all. If you watch the original video, you learn that Seagal is giving only some pointers, show few variations to concern, and no matter if you understand it or not, those pointers make sense. Problem with you guys is that you lack perspective, you lack the vision about the martial arts, because all you do in your life is sitting at the front of the computer screen and try to find things to hate. Do you even understand how sad that is? ;D

Your an idiot Ropo. I have followed the UFC since it's inception, I have watched every UFC event ever produced, I trained in boxing in my younger years and am well read on the Martial Arts. And one thing I have learned is guys who talk tough are a dime a dozen, but rarely are those types of guys capable of backing it up. Seagal's unwillingness to walk his talk is more than enough evidence he is a fraud. Any genuine tough guy looks forward to any opportunity to prove it, which Seagal has been offered many opportunities to do so.
And the night Lyoto used that kick against Randy Couture was the first time he met Seagal. Seagal merely verbally suggested he use it, he didn't TEACH him anything, it was Lyoto's father who taught him that kick. Seagal working with Lyoto came later and as anyone can see it was an embarrassment. Lyoto and Silva went along with it because they though Seagal may be able to open some doors into action films for them and not only that they are polite people, they don't want to hurt Seagal's feelings.
As for Joe Rogan having a go at Seagal, that came about because Seagal openly suggested he knew far more about martial arts than Joe Rogan did. Rogan being someone who displays his extensive martial arts knowledge on a regular basis during his role as color commentator for the UFC as well as being a genuine black belt in BJJ.
And none of this is relevant, you only need look at Seagal, his terrible acting, the fact he is morbidly obese, moves like a drunken walrus and has NEVER fought anyone in a sanctioned competition, and couple this with his constant talking up of himself, his constant lies (like that he has secretly been a police officer for twenty years or that that he is an adviser to several CIA agents or that he’d been a U.S. Navy SEAL and that he had been involved in covert operations, or that while in Japan he fearlessly battled the Yakuza, or that he’s the reincarnation of a 17’th century Buddhist lama) to know that he is a full blown egomaniac incapable of telling the truth. Anybody who lacks the intuitive ability to see through Steven Seagal is a poor judge of character indeed or has a pathethic mancrush or quite possibly a combination of the two.

I agree, joe rogan is a fuckin black belt in tae kwon do and a legit brasilian jiu jitstu black belt under under eddie bravo.rogans way more knowladgable about MMA than seagal will ever be period, rogan as a matter of fact is one of the most knowledgable guys out there commentating, maybe bas rutten is better but that's it. ANSWER ME THIS U AIKIDO GUYS,WHY HASNT THE UFC EVER HAD A CHAMP THAT USES STRAIGHT UP AIKIDO? SERIOUS QUESTION,the ufc had Royce using bjj, oleg taktarov using sambo, mark coleman using wrestling ect but never a guy who said hes an AIKIDO PRACTICIONER,WHY? like I said serious question, better yet show me a guy who ever won a match using an AIKIDO move? im curious cause maybe I missed it and if their was one bring it to my attention

I competed in kodokan judo in mid to late 90,s and did the east coast judo championships 3 times,i didn't win but placed decent, I got to green belt level then left to learn the ground game with no-gi, I got my matches on VHS. my instructor was gold medalist mike swain and my dojo was in cranford,nj. I got sick of the gi and felt it wasn't practical in real life scenarios,if u r on the beach im pretty sure a guys not gonna have a heavy coat or jacket on to grab, then what? I like the karo perysian type of judo,no gi judo. I wont even do jiu jitsu with a gi cause its useless imo, I used to be a judo fanatic and yes I know who jigoro kano is,i read many things on the internet about him, I use my judo aand wrestling to get a fight to the floor and my submissions from judo/bjj to finish it.judo and bjj basically have the same submissions its just that helio gracie altered the moves very slightly to give a weaker man an edge on finishing the move over a stronger man

Exactly correct in your last sentence...TOO GIVE A WEAKER MAN AN EDGE. Then you must understand Aikido and Wing Tzun follows these same principles..being a soft or an "internal" Art. This is exactly what Judo and Jui jitsu base their core principles on. Getting a guy down into a choke needs more than Brute strength.. giving way to a force can be utilized to your advantage and joint locks/chokes can be applied.

This whole thing reminds me of a conversation i had with Suzuki Sensei (Wado Ryu Karate) about force against force. He said to me, "Shotokan and Kyokushinkai are only with Power". Wado Ryu comes from Shindo yoshin Ryu Ju Jutsu which is where Wado Ryu takes it´s yielding principles from.

I once practiced the art of Akido, I was taught to use my opponents weight against them if attacked
I was beaten up by an anorexic bloke.

the whole principle of judo is to make a person use their own momentum and force against them,if I was going to try to hip throw a guy to my left,id push hard to my right to make him resist really hard to his left, and his force will be going in the exact same direction im trying to throw him,it works out beautiful.i really liked judo but my teacher only let us do newaza 15 minutes a day ???i wanted more than that

The kick itself was nothing special, same shit taught to a Tae Kwon Do white belt. The timing (and power, of course) is what made it effective, and that's all Machida. Video seems to indicate Seagal can't even perform this beginner technique correctly.

So Affleck has a good body to you? Everyones saying how he looks like shit when he's apparantly gained all this muscle for batman.
And I used to like seagal in his early movies, my issue with him now is his dismissiveness and rudeness about his peers and the fact he's clearly not knowledgable about their martial arts past, ie the fact van damme competed and is in fact a tested martial artist. He straight up says michael jai white isn't a martial artist and not a tough guy yet seagal remains himself untested in a straight up sanctioned fight
how surprising ::) who do you like? you say Ben Affleck is a bad actor and has a shit body on another thread. Don´t tell me Arnold your Hero would sort Seagal out right?

The problem is that on the street (or elsewhere) shit goes down too fast for you to apply any fancy throws or locks.

I was a karate master. I was forced to retire after an injury. I broke my foot kicking everyone's ass.

I understand why you went to BJJ which is really an outstanding system. I found in Judo that most members just came to training before Competitions. I wanted more the Traditional aspect and i moved on. They train more nage waza because it scores Ippon with a clean throw.

I remember I got ippponed my first 2 matches when I did my first tournament, the east coast judo championships in NJIT in Newark, NJ,i was in tears almost and took my GI off and threw it in the garbage, then the guy who beat came after me and said hey bro, dont go out like that,he said to me that he lost his first 5 matches in his first couple tournaments and told me go get your gi on and get back to training and be patient.i thought that was really cool for a guy who just beat me to help me out like that on not quitting.the messed up thing was I was doing really good in class against the yellows belts and green belts and thought I was ready, everythings a learning experience and the wise man looks at losing as a way to learn from it

not Blowing my own trumpet here but when i first started Judo, a Dan grade told me he liked training ground work with me because i was aggressive. Although i lacked skill and technique i fought till the end.One thing people forget is you have to have the mind set in Martial arts too, not just what style you do. You have to take punishment and still fight on. This then is the spirit of Budo.

The Best thing though was Army Boxing. The Man who trained us i still Respect and write to on Facebook. Taught me Discipline the Hard way. A very Hard man but also a good man. You were one of his Boxers you got left alone in the Regiment by all Ranks.

They are ALL untested, JCVD (his Van Varenberg record is made up), Michael Jai White, Wesley Snipes, Steven Seagal, Bruce Lee and the other famous movie stars... That's what they are, actors, movie stars, martial arts practitioners/enthusiasts, stuntmen, gymnasts, dancers, not proven fighters... It's hard to say who could beat who, since some of them did light sparring at most... Difference is who's arrogant and delusional and who's a nice guy that knows his place... Unfortunately Seagal is the first type of guy, liked his first movies and his character, but the guy has problems, probably bipolar...
-
There's photo and video evidence of van damme in competition.

I know... When he was young he did few "competitions", but it was very light contact/sparring, probably point fighting... Never did full contact, that's why his record with many fast KO is bullshit, clearly made up... Don't get me wrong, it's still better than doing nothing and achieving black belts through practice and katas... Problem for JCVD is that he became a druggie, at the time of Seagal's confrontation in 1997 he was on drugs/alcohol big time... Do you remember all the talking about a legit fight between him and Somrak Kamsing in 2010/2011?
-
I'm not sure stuff is made up, its not like any claims were out of this world. And yea that's what I'm saying, seagal claims shit about others but he himself is untested while van damme has competed to atleast some level when seagal says he's not a martial artist which is wrong.
The kamsing fight i knew would never happen, like rocky he had something left in the basement but expendables 2 was more important or atleast a good excuse
